WHEW! Take a moment and consider what Paul wrote.
The weapons we fight with have the "divine power to demolish stongholds."
Today, before I rolled out of bed, fear assaulted my thoughts. What if's...You'll never's...Give up... We all experience strongholds...areas denying our breakthrough or triumph...fortified destinations resiting our vision, relationships, and calling.
But...WE ARE NOT ALONE. The spirit of the LIVING GOD lives in each one of us. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the grave empowers us for daily living. Romans 8:15-17 reminds us that we "did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." (NIV)
So, how do we demolish every pretension or argument that sets itself up against the knowledge of God (the call of God) (the truth of God)?
By taking every thought captive and obedient to Christ!
- In our relationships: We serve as Christ served. (See Philippians 2) And trust God to heal and restore. When we wonder if we can go on. We consider Christ's love and sacrifice. Surely a commitment like that can be trusted. Focusing on Christ, his nature, we find strength and an example to follow after... and if we do not grow weary...we will reap our harvest!
- In our mission. We live courageously, knowing that God will never leave us until He has fulfilled ALL that HE HAS PROMISED US...We don't lose heart as we follow Hebrews 12:2-3, and "fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." (NIV)
- Friend...what are you thinking about? What do you meditate on? Is it your problem or Christ? For me...I get overwhelmed if I think about the tasks at hand...the mission or the vision itself can consume me...BUT...when I take every thought captive to CHRIST...I find strength. Reassurance. Hope. Joy. Power. Faith!
