Are You Hungry?

I love food. Dinners with my family are a time of fellowship and celebration. To me, meals make memories. I love cooking and catering to friends and family...at least most of the time.

But, have you ever been so busy that you didn't stop to eat? How about being so busy that you didn't even realize you were hungry?

I know I sure have. I've went for days on end where I didn't consume a meal until late in the evening; I didn't even realize I was hungry until I put the first bite to my mouth...

Unfortunately, I've experience spiritual seasons like that as well. How about you? Isn't it strange how (easily) activities can distract us from our relationship with God?

That's why I love mornings like this...

Today, I awakened with an insatiable hunger for God. My heart literally ached with desire of wanting, no needing, to feel God's presence. I silently prayed David's declaration from Psalm 63:1-4: "O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands." (NIV)
I'm so grateful (that when I take time to listen) God renews my hope and satisfies my spirit.

Friend, as believers, God sends His whispers of hope and instruction to us, from His Word, saying:

Incline your ear and listen for my instruction. Be still and wait patiently for Me. I will deliver you. I will uphold you. I will satisfy you. I will be your God and lead you in the way you should go. I will not leave you. I will bless those who bless you and will be an enemy against your enemies. I will strengthen you and sustain you. I will accomplish all that I have promised you.

The truth is, God longs to speak to us...He showers us with his love and provides instruction through His Word.

I want to encourage you to join me. Let's take a moment (from our busy routine) and make sure to feed our spirit with God's Word.
