This past conference weekend, my dear friend, Tammy Maltby, shared an African tribal greeting. When this particular tribe meets one another, they look intently at one another and say, "I see you." "Do you see me?"
Isn't that what we all long to be? Seen by one another? Seen by God?
In John 1:47-49, "When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." Nathanael asked, "How do you know me?" "Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."
Friend, God sees you. In the midst of your heartache...in the barren places...in the moments when you think no one is watching...in pain...in joy...in valley lows or mountain highs...in want or in abundance...YOU are EVER BEFORE our GOD.
He whispers His love to us in Isaiah 49:15-16, saying: "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me." (NIV)
God's love fills me with wonder. He takes my breath away! To think...the God of the Universe KNOWS me and LOVES me is truly amazing.
Today, be encouraged: You are NOT alone. Hold fast to God's promise, remembering Isaiah 40:28-31: "The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (NIV)
