Fed Up with the Process!

Questions filled my thoughts...Are you resistant? Frustrated? Fed up?

Yes. Yes. And, yes I am! I thought.

Allow me to get extremely transparent; may I? Lately, I resist embracing anything new. Even though God continues to open amazing doors of opportunity, each opportunity continues to reveal my complete inadequacies and areas needing improved on. Oh, I know it's all a process...but quite honestly sometimes I want to shout, "I'm fed up with the process!" I want to excel. I want to feel successful. I don't want to feel inadequate.

Ever feel that way? Ever want to feel successful? Ever grow weary of the unending process?

If we're honest, we all feel that way sometimes. All week people have written letters stating that they feel like giving up...looking for something that makes them feel significant.

What can we do in moments like these? What can we do when we've had it up to our eyeballs with trying to get better at something? Here are some thoughts, I hope they help.
  • Don't be so serious; instead remember what it's all about.
In Luke 10:41-42, Jesus said, "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed." NIV

When I focus on my circumstances, I get critical like Martha. I start complaining. I get uptight. The joy of serving Jesus gets lost in endless to do lists. But God wants us to relax. Laugh a lot! And remember to soak in His presence. In His presence we find contentment. In His presence we find strength. In His presence we find joy, peace, and favor!
  • Don't try to conquer, instead remain faithful to Him alone. (Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." NIV)
God isn't looking for our accomplished achievements...He desires our love. Scripture says, "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' (Matt 7:21-23, NIV)

When I read this passage today I gained new insight...The people in this passage were so lost in their own accomplishments they missed God entirely. They got lost in what they did, what they accomplished, what they perfected, rather than what Jesus did, what He accomplished, what He perfected. Our only hope of salvation is found in Jesus. Our only hope of persevering and not getting "FED UP with the process" is when our focus is on maintaining our relationship with Christ rather our routine of responsibilities.
  • Don't worry thinking "What's next?" instead relish every moment.
In Matthew 6:34, Jesus says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

My tendency to think futuristic steals the joy of what lies before me. Instead of surfing with my husband I get frustrated trying to succeed. Instead of writing books for the pleasure of it I get side-traced writing for the publication of it.

How about you? Are you resistant? Frustrated? Fed up?

If so, ask the Lord to help you:
  • not be so serious and to remember what it's all about.
  • not try to conquer and to remain faithful to Him alone.
  • not worry about "What's next?" but to relish every moment.
Friend, find encouragement in this passage: Galatians 6:7-10 promises, "A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (NIV)

Until next week, I want to remind you to: Dream big! Laugh often! Know that God has it all under control!
