The Cure for Anxiety

Ever get anxious?

I know I sure do. But there is a cure for anxiety. Fear comes when we assume ownership over something we have no control of.

Sometimes I have to stop and simply ask: WHO am I trusting in? Myself? Others? Or am I relying on God's faithfulness?

Psalm 146:2-6, "I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — the LORD, who remains faithful forever." (NIV)

I'm not sure why I struggle at times or get confused in thinking "I" can do anything. What arrogance! :) But...I am learning to respond quicker to anxious feelings...submitting them to God...releasing "ownership."

What do you get anxious over? Could it be because you too struggle with control? Have you assumed the responsibility of "results" and "accomplishments?"

Philippians 4:5-7, outlines the cure for anxious living, saying: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (NIV)

Friend, we have an Advocate Who wants to redeem us from "ourselves" and fill is with His Spirit and Life. So if you find yourself anxious, feeling overwhelmed by life's circumstances, wondering about the "what ifs" or travailing over the "if onlys"...take a moment to consciously surrender everything over to God again and with prayer and thanksgiving invite God to BE GOD in your life.

Actually, I think it's time for me to have my own private time with God...hope you do the same.
