HIGHER! HIGHER! HIGHER!

"HIGHER! HIGHER! HIGHER!" Sommer squealed with delight, as I pushed her on the swing. I can still envision her upright piggy tails sprouting from the top of her little head, like little shoots of broccoli.

"Faster! FASTER! FASTER!" Joshua shouted and giggled, as I ran tirelessly around the merry-go-round!

I love how my children trust me implicitly. No height too high, as long as I'm watching and pushing. No momentum too fast as long as I'm there.

Every day I realize, more and more, how great God's love for me is! He pushes me higher and higher. Isn't that just like a daddy? I love how He pushes me to exceed heights I thought possible, while always reminding me I could never have done it on my own. I think God takes great pleasure watching us use our gifts for Him, while we laugh, giggle, and trust Him to remain in control.

Friend, what is God calling you to?

Whatever it is, trust Him like a child...full of faith, belief, excitement, and an adventurous, willing, spirit. In Matthew 18:3-4, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (NIV)

Romans 8:15-17 takes my breath away; it reveals so much promise; it inspires my soul, saying, "For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba , Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." (NIV)
