G.K. Chesterton wrote, "Hope means hoping when things are hopeless, or it is no virtue at all...As long as matters are really hopeful, hope is mere flattery or platitude; it is only when everything is hopeless that hope begins to be a strength." (Signs of the Times, April 1993, p. 6.)
Do your circumstances seem to constantly contradict God's promise? Ever wonder if you messed up or at least question if you've misunderstood God's promise?
Romans 4:18-20, "Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be." Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead — since he was about a hundred years old — and that Sarah's womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." (NIV)
Friend, remember GOD'S promise. Write it down. Post it in a place you'll see often. Recite it over and over. Thank God for it. AND NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up.
The fulfillment of God's promise is NOT contingent upon our abilities, nor is it reduced to our merit. When God speaks He fulfills. God establishes His purpose and is NOT limited by anything except HIS OWN GOODNESS and LOVE.
Abraham's body was as good as dead. Sarah's womb was dried up. But Abraham was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised!
Today, we have the same opportunity to let FAITH ARISE and believe that GOD IS ABLE! Genesis 28:15
says, "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." (NIV)
Friend, God fulfills ALL of HIS promises. He will NOT, NOR will He EVER abandon you!
PRAYER: Father help us ignore every thought bound the limitations of our own thinking and resit every accusation that insinuates You will not follow through on Your promises. Lord, we put our hope in YOU. Though our lives are dried up, though our finances may be lacking, though in our own effort we know we have NO hope...YET...we will believe and put our HOPE in YOU! Thank You for loving us. Thank You that You can be trusted. We surrender all that we are; use our lives to bring HONOR to You! In Jesus' name, amen.
