Hope in the Midst of Darkness

Every time I minister overseas, I am overwhelmed with what I witness. I see eyes full of hunger. Desperate for a glimpse of hope. Longing that cries out...HELP ME...DO YOU CARE?

Today as we ministered in a methodone clinic, God granted many opportunities to witness of His great love. Person after person waited in a small room, listening and anwserng my questions. Each time I shared, God provided a window of opportunity to naturally share about His great love and why I was there.

As I shared, witnessing, and extending the Love of Christ...GOD showed up and did what only HE can do. He touched the human heart and softened it from all the hardness that had built up around it. He tore down language barriers with the Presence of His Spirit.

One man turned (as he was leaving) and in Russian said "Thank you very much...You have given me hope!" While I prayed for him for healing, he said..."I felt heat go all through my leg as you prayed." God had touched him. He ministered to him. In the midst of a government drug rehabilitation/administration building...in the midst of this man's addiction...God moved by His grace and touched this man powerfully.

Friends, I want to encourage you today. God doesn't wait for us to get things perfect before He reaches and touches our life. He provides hope in the midst of our sin...in the midst of our desperation...in the midst of darkness. His light scatters the darkness and provides us with HOPE!

So, be of great courage...the Lord is near. Psalm 34 says, "The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those crushed in spirit." So don't ever give up. God is near.

PRAYER: Father, minister to us in the midst of our desperateness. Fill us with strength. Touch us by Your Spirit. Fill us with Your Hope! In Jesus name we pray...amen!
