Do you not want me either? I whispered.
What in the world? Where did that come from? The words shocked me as they some how escaped my rather passionate "Christian-rationale". It was one of those moments of unedited prayers. Raw...Real...Revealing.
Cognitively, I knew God wasn't rejecting me, but emotionally, it was as if I dropped my baseball bat to the ground, shoulders drooping, hearing the umpire yell, "Strike three...you're out."
I had neither the strength or passion to even try to stop the words from slipping past my lips into the open air.
Again...UNEDITED PRAYERS.
It was too late; my secret fears surfaced, no longer able to hide. Over the next couple of hours God revealed hidden areas of my personal disappointment and pain. He exposed the truth, liberating me from age old lies that had been written on my heart.
I love when God extracts faulty thinking and frees me with the truth.
So allow me to let you in on a little secret...this prayer wasn't prayed 10 years ago or even 10 months ago...actually it happend less than 10 days ago. I share the timeline with you, to remind you we all have areas of weakness. We all want desperately to feel loved and accepted. And we all have moments of doubt and frailty, where the devil tries to get the upper hand. But THANKS BE TO GOD we aren't left to muddle through it with our own devices of help or healing. God is faithful and is nearer than the breath we just breathed.
I'm not sure what you're facing today, but I do know God is big enough to handle it. You can come to Him with full assurance of His love, mercy, and devotion. DON'T worry about editing your prayers...coming to Him raw is His specialty...He prefers it. (Matt 6:7-8, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."NIV--Nothing Fancy Required Here)
Keep it simple...Keep it real. Scripture says to, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)
My prayer for you is taken from Ephesians 1:18-19, "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe..."NIV
May you experience God's warm embrace and receive the strength that you so desperately need.
Prayer: Father, take our broken pieces and restore our hope. Free us from fear. Empower us by Your Spirit and truth. Grant us hope. Heal every area of our life. And help us to draw near to You. Work miracles on our behalf. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

More than Words
You are loved my dear friend...more than you could ever hope or imagine. And at the end of time, long after the applause, accolades, and awards of men; we will stand before an audience of One. We will see The One Who took our penalty and covered our shame.
So today, I felt the Lord gently whisper, remind them again that I love them...remind them that I see them...remind them that I have not forgotten them.
Jer 31:3-4, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt..." NIV
I remember a season in my life (about 12 years ago now) that I sat at the end of a bar. My intent? To get as drunk as possible as quick as possible. Ironically, I had just finished Bible College, but was going through a divorce, and losing my credentials with the denomination I had been licensed with. I felt isolated, alone, and discarded. (It's a long story...maybe I'll share at a later time.) While sitting at the edge of the bar, making unholy choices...the Spirit of God whispered to me; "There is no where you can go that my grace won't find you still."
After years of preaching on grace, after years of claiming my comprehension of mercy...I experienced it first hand. God loved me so much, He broke through all the barriers of where I thought He would show up and sat next to me in a bar and lovingly embraced me. I was never the same!
So, once again, for today's post, I felt impressed to simply remind you--You are loved. I'd like to share an amazing video that I watched a few years ago...I hope you take the time to watch it in its entirety...you will be glad you did.

Watch Your Giants Fall!
Isaiah 66:9, "Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?" says the LORD. "Do I close up the womb when I bring to delivery?" says your God." NIV
"Breathe Julie...c'mon you can do it...only a few more seconds...you should be getting some relief in about five...four...three...two..."
"AHHHHHHHH." I breathed and thanked my husband for helping me through yet another grueling contraction. (My oldest took twenty one hours of tough labor...talk about exhausting.)
We've all heard the old cliche, "It's always darkest before the dawn." Unfortunately, the old cliche gives little comfort when your neck deep in quick sand with no visible life line.
It's tough to "keep your chin up" or "pull yourself up by your boot straps" when your strength is gone, your mind and body drained, and your faith diminished by enormous battles.
The only thing that seems to help me when I'm weak is a good story...like, Israel surrounded by giants; their defeat imminent, until a small boy with a small stone and sling arises from the crowd, decapitating the enemy, and reminding them Who they serve. Or, Gideon's army reduced to 300, yet victory emerges through "lanterns, broken pots, and an amazing God"...Or, what about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo...not spared but thrown into the furnace, only to escape its fury and influence an entire kingdom to be saved.
I don't want to over-simplify your battles...I know the pain and weight of rejection and disappointment...I know what it is to be in hunger... I know how it feels to be "ship-wrecked" by life's storms...but I also know Who we serve.
Today, I want to simply point to Jesus. And remind you...your giants will fall...your war was already won through Jesus...your not alone in your fiery furnace! Jesus is near.
And as my husband coached me through grueling hours of labor, I want to remind you of what you're working for. I want to remind you of your dreams. Remind You of Who you serve and what awaits for you.
Our hope and our confidence rests in the One Who purchased and paid for the penalty of our sins.
God went to a great length to ensure your salvation. He won't fail you now! So endure, persevere, and come against your giants in the name of the Lord of Hosts...And, in due time, you will witness them fall!
Philippians 4:12-13 lets us in on a powerful secret to obtaining contentment; "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. NIV
Prayer: Father give us strength today. Fill us with the truth of who you are and regardless of our present circumstances, help us to know who we are in You! Thank you Lord that YOU are our life line...and when we feel neck deep, sinking in quick sand, You are there to make sure we escape. Fill us with courage remembering the battle is not ours...You've already won it and disarmed every principality and power of the air when Jesus died on the cross. We love You Lord. Fill each one of us with hope. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

An Unexpected Visitor
The door bell rang...then rang again...I didn't feel like answering the door. But the ringing of the door bell was followed by a slight tapping. I wondered who could be outside, but again, didn't feel like going to see. I was determined to take a nap...something I never had the opportunity to do. I tried to ignore the knocking and continued trying to relax after my long hot bath...BUT my visitor would not take no for an answer. Concerned someone might be introuble or in serious distress, I reluctantly went to the door. As I peered around our hallway entrance to see who was there, my eyes met with a small brown-haired girl, who peered through the side window of our front entrance.
Who in the world is this I thought? I couldn't ignore her...she saw me and I saw her.
So, reluctantly I went to the door to meet the most charming...determined...Girl Scout I'd ever met.
"Would you like to buy some cookies?" she asked.
I politely said, "No thank you."
"But they are so good." She replied.
I had to laugh. This girl had more guts and tenacity than a lot of the agents I had working for me at the time.
"How many boxes would you like; one for every person in your family?" She added.
Now she had me. $20.00 later I placed my arm full of cookies on the counter in our kitchen and then retreated to take my nap.
Today, for some reason I was reminded of this encounter.
Revelation 3:20, Here I am! I stand at the door and knock . If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. NIV
Today, as I read this verse, the presence of God overwhelmed me. Do you realize that God Himself wants desperately to be in relationship with you? He's not holding you at arms length waiting for you to do enough "Spiritual Calisthenics" in order to meet with you.
He's very persistently knocking trying to get your attention, determined to spend some time with you. However, unlike my visitor, his motives aren't to sell you something, but rather to fellowship with you.
You don't have to beg to hear God's voice, you merely need to give him your attention. What's keeping you from taking time to sit and listen?
Today, my day started out pretty busy...at least 5 things happend out of the ordinary. In my hustle and bustle to get everything done...I had to purposely stop myself to sit still and just listen for a little while. When I did, I heard the verse above and realized once again how very much God loves me. So, today...if you hear Him knocking, take some time to answer. That's where we get our strength.
Prayer: Father, please fill us with a hunger to fellowship with You. Help us to hear You knock and respond correctly. Fill us with Your Presence and remove the busyness that keeps us from following You more closely. In Jesus name I pray...Amen.

Would You Please Pry My Fingers From This???
Human nature stinks...and once again I'm painfully aware of just how much I tend to revert to old tendencies..
I'd like to say, that by now, I've learned the lesson of trusting God's timing...I'd like to say I never pick up what God's called me to lay down...I'd like to say that I trust Him for everything and that I never struggle with trying to figure out how "I" am going to "make" God's promises come to be...
Unfortunately, all too often, and yes, even at this past writer's conference, the ugly truth of my "fleshly" tendencies arose again.
After the three publishers of my dreams said that they loved my proposal I felt elated, empowered, and full of faith...Thank You God. I felt like doing the dance...jumping high...and twirling around in circles laughing.
BUT...my faith and confidence quickly wavered, cowering to self-pity and doubt when a different publisher said that I was an excellent writer but just didn't have a large enough platform...(that's the writer verbage meaning I don't have a wide enough audience to sell enough books).
I walked away from the rejection wanting to praise God for closing a door; I wanted to be full of faith, instead the most I could muster up was the courage not to cry. How SILLY! Had I really picked up ownership to my life again? I know I'm going to sound a little high maintenance; how could I go from such a high to such a low? How could I go from feeling like "YES, I'm going to get a book contract" to "I'm never going to be good enough?" All I can say is these events are emotionally and physically draining...So,I retreated to my room...had a good cry...and after a little time, I humbly gave my life and dreams back to God, knowing that He can manage my life so much better than I can. I confessed my desire to control situations and asked God to take the burden off my shoulders (and if need be to pry my fingers from it). I felt amazing faith once again rise in my heart as I remembered WHO it is I serve.
My faith no longer resting in who I know, or what I can do...but in WHO I SERVE.
Does that mean I'll get a book deal and everything will work out exactly how I think??? I wish...but more accurately it means God is in control and I'm going to surrender to Him and trust Him to direct me and fill me with His presence. I'm going to be faithful where I am found. I'm going to rest in His power and every time I realize I've made it about me or realize I'm trying to manipulate or control situations...I'm going to lay it back down. :)
So, what's your tendency? What burden do you find yourself picking up time and time again? What weight or responsibility have you made your own?
Hand it back over to God. He is faithful and fully capable to do what seems impossible. AND He cares! You are not alone! Your kids, your dreams, your ambitions, your finances...everything and anything that seems out of control...give it to God. And the peace, which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
So my life lesson from this past weekend is a lesson God has taught me time and time again...Here it is:
When God gives us a promise, He's already seen it as though it is. We can't miss it...and as long as we continue to follow Him...we CAN'T mess it up!
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your steps!"
As a side note...Thank you for your prayers...honestly it could NOT have went any better. I'll let you know what doors God OPENS! I have three major publishing companies looking at my manuscript...Pray if it's God's will at least one of them will want to publish it. Either way...I count it a privilege to be surrounded by such amazing people like you! Thank you for your encouragement.
Prayer: Father, forgive us for pride, ego, fear, selfishness, or any other thing that runs independent of you. We want desperately to please you. Fill us with Your power. Let us reflect Who You are! Thank you God for Your mercy. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for teaching us time and time again to release all our cares to You because You care for us.

Living a Life of Excellence
We've all received recognition for accomplishments throughout our life. As I've gotten older, it's funny to look back at some of the things I strived so hard for. It's crazy to think how hard I worked for awards that ended up being shoved in drawers and rarely thought about...
This morning, as I look around my office/playroom/study/game room, I'm reminded of various time frames of my life. I have various awards from various time periods, diplomas, plaques, and an award that says Your Dedication To Excellence Is An Inspiration To Us All.
Of all the awards I've ever received the last one meant the most. Why? Because I want my life to be characterized as one that influenced others, that empowered others, that encouraged and brought out the best in others. But all too often I find myself focused on the next task at hand; sidetracked by busyness, and my intentions cowering to feelings of insignificance...and is what I'm really doing help?
Have you ever noticed how what you think about creeps into your attitude? Ever realize how if you fill your head with doubt, you shrink from stepping forward?
The mind is a powerful muscle. And like any muscle will develop and change with how you work it.
In Philippians 4:4-8, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.NIV
So today...I'm going to keep this really simple and encourage you to take control over what you think about. Periodically throughout the day stop and recognize what you're entertaining in your mind. How do you talk to yourself? What are you privately speaking over your circumstances?
God has given us His Spirit...the same Spirit that raised Christ from the grave lives in you! WOW! That's empowering!
I don't know about you but I'm pressing on. I want to live my life in such a way that I win the prize...the award of hearing God say, "Well done, good and faithful servant, come inherit the kingdom I've prepared for you!"
I so relate to the apostle Paul when he said, in Philippians 3:12-14, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."NIV
As a side note this is the last post I'm making until next Monday. I leave tomorrow for Denver, Colorado for a Writer's Conference where I will meet with three major publishing houses concerning my book...please pray for me.
In the meantime I am praying for you as well.
Prayer: Father, captivate us with Your Presence. Fill us with Your Spirit. Help us to have the mind of Christ and to live our life with excellence for Your name sake. Bless my friends; provide for their every need; show them Your will for their life; and, let them experience Your great love and mercy for them. In Jesus name I pray...Amen!

God has given us His Spirit...the same Spirit that raised Christ from the grave lives in you! WOW! That's empowering!
I don't know about you but I'm pressing on. I want to live my life in such a way that I win the prize...the award of hearing God say, "Well done, good and faithful servant, come inherit the kingdom I've prepared for you!"
I so relate to the apostle Paul when he said, in Philippians 3:12-14, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."NIV
As a side note this is the last post I'm making until next Monday. I leave tomorrow for Denver, Colorado for a Writer's Conference where I will meet with three major publishing houses concerning my book...please pray for me.
In the meantime I am praying for you as well.
Prayer: Father, captivate us with Your Presence. Fill us with Your Spirit. Help us to have the mind of Christ and to live our life with excellence for Your name sake. Bless my friends; provide for their every need; show them Your will for their life; and, let them experience Your great love and mercy for them. In Jesus name I pray...Amen!

Keep The Vision
Yesterday was just one of those days...you know the kinda day where you anxiously await 9:30 PM so you can go to bed and call it a day. Somewhere between rising, ready to serve God, and listening to the last and final complaint and piece of bad news...I gave up.
The good thing about loving God as much as I do...I didn't stay there long.
Today, as I prepare to write a short devotional, hoping to inspire, encourage, and point you closer to the heart of God...I just have to pause and say, "Take a breath--yes you." "Breathe." "Let every anxiety you've picked up be tossed to the side." "Throw away every doubt...fear...and worry far from you." "God is near."
Every moment of every day we have a choice. A choice to cower or a choice to stand. In Habakkuk 2:1-3 we learn a great principle for avoiding burn out.
"I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Then the LORD replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." NIV
The essence of this passage is simple.
1. Position yourself to hear God.
Ask God to show you His plan for you, ask Him to remind you of His promises.
Pray simple prayers like, God, please speak to me. I'm listening...(then listen).
No matter how busy you are...this step is essential. Take moments throughout
your day to simply pause and listen. At lunch...while you're driving...while
you're typing at your computer or doing your job...it only takes a few
seconds...but it produces life.
2. Post God's promises, vision, and call for your life.
Put it in a place that you will be able to see easily, so you will run with it
and not grow weary. I've found the refrigerator and computer beneficial places
because I visit them each day. Write out what God has said. Write out a verse
or promise He's spoken and keep them in a place that will cause you to take
notice!
3. And finally, Patiently wait.
God always fulfills His promises. Don't grow tired. Don't give up. God is
faithful. Remember to remember Who it is you serve.
Remind yourself of His goodness. Recall
His faithfulness. And Refute faulty thinking or any thought
that opposes the truth of Who He is or what He has promised.
When the Israelites walked through the desert and the snakes were trying to bite them, God told Moses to fashion a snake on a pole and lift it high for all to look upon it; anyone who looked upon it was saved. The snake on the pole represented the future work Christ would do for us on the cross. It pointed to the future hope of salvation for all mankind.
So today...post God's promise high...look upon it and be encouraged. Remember, your final hope. This life is but a vapor...truly we are here today and could be gone tomorrow...Don't waste one minute of it worrying about what might be. All that remains is the truth of Who God is and what He has promised to those that believe.

Prayer: Father, thank You that You are close to us. Thank You for the instruction we find in Your Word. Thank You that You will never leave us or forsake us. We put our trust in You. Fill us with hope, joy, and laughter, knowing that our future is secure in YOU! Help and empower each of my friends and my life I pray; In Jesus name...In His authority...And because of Your goodness I pray. Amen.

An Amazing Gift
You gotta love Valentines from kids...
My son Joshua came home from school on Friday with a bag full of goodies. I watched as he ransacked the bag; What are you looking for? I asked.
"You'll see." He said, smiling, with a mischievious look in his eye.
As I sat on the couch with my husband, Joshua pulled out a red heart ring and asked, "Will you by my valentine?" SOOOOOOO cute.
"Of course!" I said.
"Really...I thought you were daddy's?" He said half questioning half making a statement.
"The great thing about being a family on Valentine's Day is we can all be each others. Daddy is my one true sweetheart...but you'll always be my little boy!" I said, smiling, thankful that my little boy still wanted to be my Valentine. (These times don't last forever.)
As I asked God what He wanted to share on today's post, an amazing truth grabbed my heart.
In the Gospel of John 1:11-13, John writes an amaing promise for us, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." NIV
I thought about how much I love my children. My children held my heart from the very first moment I saw them. I love each one of them completely. They don't need to earn my love. Their abilities don't merit more of my affection. I even love their idiosyncrasies. When they fall short of my expectations, I don't want to strong hand them, I want to pull them near. I desire to teach them and love them in the midst of their pain. They have worth to me because they are mine.
Friends, God loves us the same...even more.
He whispers His love to us. His Word whispers, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” “I have inscribed you on the palm of my hands.” “Because you are precious and honored in my sight, I will give others in exchange for you.”
You see, God’s love is more tender than a mother’s, more faithful than a brother’s, and more intimate than a lover’s; His love crossed the battlefield of pain, traversed through the trenches of indifference and pride, and stretched His arms wide, nailing the weight of our sin to its final death. (Excerpt from my new book)
YOU are His child. He sees your need. He sees your pain. He sees your joy, sadness, disappointments, and moments of victory. Regardless of your circumstances...YOU are NOT alone.
I gain great hope, knowing that I am His. Our battles are not ours alone. And...I stand amazed that despite all of my idiosyncrasies...despite all my failures...despite my impure motives or shortcomings (that I'm not even aware I have)...God has given me the right to be called His. AMAZING!
So today, rejoice in the truth that You are loved and You have been grafted into the family of God!!!
1 John 3:1 says, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God ! And that is what we are..." NIV
PRAYER: Father, today we ask that You fill us with Your presence. Demonstrate Your love to us and for us. Fill us with expectancy and hope, knowing we can trust You and that You are good. Thank You for forgiving us and calling us Yours. Help us to live in a manner worthy of Your calling. In Jesus name...amen.
As a side note:
Please keep me and my family in your prayers. God has opened up some tremendous opportunities for ministry and I would appreciate your prayer covering. Also, this week I go to a writer's conference in Denver, Colorado...please pray for me as I travel and meet with potential editors/publishers. I belive publishing my next book (When He Whisper: God's Speaking Even When You Think He Isn't) would be a great opportunity to share God's heart to a larger amount of people! Pray that God's favor would rest upon me during this process and the right publisher would pick it up. Thank you and may you sense God's tremendous love for YOU TODAY!!! :)

The Promise for Believers
Psalm 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all."
This is one of those bitter sweet verses. At first glance you look at it and think "YES" God is going to deliver me out of my affliction. On the other side you look at it and think I don't want any part of the promise that the righteous are going to have many afflictions...
The truth is afflictions are part of life, believer or not. The difference is as a believer when the trial comes God promises that we won't be tempted beyond what we can bare but when we are tempted He will provide a way for us to endure and stand up under the trial; He'll provide a way of escape. (1 Cor. 10:13)
As a believer we have a place of retreat and refuge. As a believer we have an Advocate Who is more than able to provide, deliver, restore, and go to battle and win the victory on our behalf.
Unbelievers can only turn to self-help, drugs, alcohol or another temporary escape...all of which provide only temporary relief but produce NO lasting joy. We see so much evidence of this in the media lately with multiple stars dying because of "prescription drug" overdoses. It hurts my heart to not be able to reach them with the truth of God's love and mercy! When an unbeliever encounters affliction I see desperation all over their face; their shoulders hang low to the ground; I see hopelessness.
Personally, when I awake every morning, I realize that I have a decision to make. Will I yield my life to the One Who created me or take the reigns and try to muscle through it on my own? I'd like to say I always choose the right one...but sometimes it isn't until the middle of the day, bombarded and overwhelmed, tired and frustrated, burdened and weary that I look up and cry..."HELP!"
I'm so thankful that each time I invite God's presence to empower me, deliver me, and provide for me, He does! Whenever I take the time to say I really just need to know You are with me, would You demonstrate that You are near and that You love me? He always shows up!
My dear...dear friends...He'll do the same for you. You are not alone. God is near. He is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
The writer of Lamentations writes in 3:19-26, "I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD." NIV
So don't allow the enemy to trick you into believing that you're in this battle alone. GOD is YOUR SALVATION. AND AS A BELIEVER HE is your Defender, Provider, Savior, Redeemer, Friend, Ever Present Help in time of trouble, Refuge, Strength, Deliverer...and so much more! There is NO limit to our God or His power.
My Prayer for You today:
Father we are burdened by so many things, BUT we know we can trust in You. Thank You that You are faithful even when we are not. Thank You that You lead us even when we kick our feet in the ground and force You to drag us kicking and screaming. Thank You for Your mercy that surrounds us even when we fail to give You the praise You deserve. But MOST OF ALL JESUS Thank You for loving us. And at the end of the day, for filling us with HOPE and the TRUTH that YOU WILL deliver us out of all our afflictions. Bless my friends today with YOUR presence. In Jesus name...AMEN!

Good-bye Fear!!!
2 Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power , of love and of self-discipline."NIV
Ever find yourself worrying about a particular circumstance or situation" Ever wonder if your dreams will come true? Ever catch yourself being consumed with different "what ifs" and questioning how you're possibly going to get free from the pressure? Ever wonder if you'll succeed at the tasks that lay before you?
Sometimes I catch myself wondering "if", "when", and "how" the promises of God will occur, fretting over trivial matters. BUT...God has not given us a spirit of fear or timidity...Which causes me to ask myself: If God didn't give me the fear, where did it come from? Why do I become timid and cower rather than stand tall and charge forward?
For most of us...there are a lot of contributors that hold us back, like: The voices from our past whispering we'll never amount to anything...Our own self-developed insecurities formed from societies "stereotypes of success"...Other contributors can be all the endless tasks that have to be completed...bills...poor decisions from our past...and the list can go on. BUT...the truth is...NOT only has God NOT given us a spirit of fear...
HE HAS GIVEN us a spirit of POWER! Don't miss this. Inside of you the Spirit of God has placed all the resources you need and the fortitude to get it done. Scripture says it's not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord.
The victory you long for is empowered by God. When we come to Christ He fills us and empowers us for everything we need. 2 Peter 1:3 says "He's given us everything that we need that pertains to life and godliness."
God NOT ONLY has given us a spirit of power to combat our fears but He has filled us and given us a spirit of love and self-discipline! That means...there's no excuses. YOU CAN SUCCEED. God's already put it in you. We CAN change our faulty paradigms to the truth.
I'm not at the point (yet) where fear never tries to creep in. Sometimes I battle, wondering if I'm stupid for going after my dreams...BUT...when those thoughts creep in, the Spirit God (placed in me) says NO! And corrects my thoughts.
Instead of retreating to defeat I cry out...
I will do(and I insert whatever the task is), because GOD HAS SAID (and I insert the promises God has given me specifically for my life).
Don't think you can do that? WRONG! :) According to 2 Timothy 1:7 God's already given you a spirit of POWER, of LOVE, and of SELF-DISCIPLINE!
Today, I encourage you. Believe God at His Word. Believe His Promises. Take captive every thought that opposes the truth of God by saying...I WILL_____ BECAUSE GOD HAS SAID _____.
AND REMEMBER...Dream Big...Laugh Often...Knowing God's got everything under control!
PRAYER: Father, fill us with your Spirit today. Help us to catch every thought that isn't from you and to make it subject to Your truth. Thank You that You are with us and will empower us to do all that You have called us to. We love you. In Jesus name, in HIS AUTHORITY--Amen!

Keep Watch
Wow. It's crazy how fast time flies. It seems like yesterday I found out I was pregnant...our children are now 15...10...and 8. Where do the years go?
I don't know about you, but at the end of each day, I want to be able to say, "If today was my last moment spent on earth I lived it well. I remembered to kiss my husband; I played with my children, and I honored my God!"

DON'T Miss What God is Saying!
Today is going to be very simple. I felt like God simply wanted to remind you "DO NOT FEAR". WHY? BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU and HE is taking care of you!
Romans 8:28-39, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."
WOW! I love this verse. DON'T MISS WHAT GOD IS SAYING!
YOU my friend are loved. Everything that you do, every circumstance of your life, does NOT go unnoticed by God. AND, He works out everything for our good. Regardless of what your pocket book says, regardless of your battles, regardless of good times or bad...GOD is going to work it all out in such a way that we are stronger, better, and more like Him as a result.
WHAT's even BETTER news is we can't fail. God has predestined us to be conformed to the likeness of His Son! We've been called--God has a plan for each of our lives. We have been justified (which my college professor described as: just as if I never sinned). AND We've been glorified...one day we will rule and reign with Christ...God sees us in our final form...He sees us as we will one day be!!! How exciting to know our future is certain.
(Verse 31-34) "What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."
WOW...WOW...WOW! Again, think of it. JESUS Himself is at the right hand of God interceding for you today. If that doesn't fill you with courage I don't know what will.
Live today like GOD is right there with YOU. Live knowing He is working all things together for your good. Live with the confidence that You cannot fail...YOUR steps are ordered of the Lord. AND you are LOVED!
Prayer: Father, thank You that we are not alone. Thank you that You work all things together for our good. Thank You for Your love. Help our hearts to not grow weary. Help us to NEVER fear...knowing we can trust You.

"How Much Further?"
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy...Are we there yet?" the incessant cries of my children still ring in my ears from our most recent trip.
Over Christmas, we travelled from Texas to Missouri, from Missouri to Kentucky, and then from Kentucky back to Texas. Quite the trip with three kids, a dog, and a lot of luggage. Along each of our trips, the proverbial questions arose: "Are we there yet?" and "How much further?"
"Would you please...just enjoy the scenery. Look at the hills...the trees...the video screen...something...and quit asking, "How much further?" I said with great exasperation.
BUT, truth be told, I really can't blame them for asking. I'm the same way. As God gives me glimpses of His plan for my life, I often find myself longing for the end destination and forget to enjoy "the here and now".
I forget that life is an amazing journey...one that should be enjoyed and savored...not wasted, worrying about "the next thing".
One of the greatest tips to "Doing Your Passion" is to serve right where you are. God surrounds our life with amazing opportunities, and with people that we need to learn from, minister to, and laugh with.
If we constantly worry about "the next thing" we miss out on some really enjoyable moments.
In Matthew 6:25-27, Jesus encouraged us by saying, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" NIV
Friends, God CAN be trusted. And His promises WILL be fulfilled. Not always in the way we think or the way we imagined...BUT FULFILLED none the less.
So, today, enjoy the moment. The promise will soon be fulfilled. The destination is just around the corner...You'll be there before you know it. DON'T miss the beauty of the lives that surround you. Encourage your children...Kiss your spouse...Love the person you like least...AND...DREAM BIG...LAUGH OFTEN...KNOWING GOD's GOT IT ALL UNDER CONTROL!
Prayer: Father, help us to live each day to its fullest. To enjoy the people you put in our path. To serve where we are. And to rest, knowing YOU are faithful and WILL provide for our EVERY NEED! We love You and long to be pleasing to You. Be near to us and help us to sense Your presence. In Jesus Name-Amen!

Look Up!
The other day I was talking to an elderly gentleman on the way to the bus stop. I looked up to watch a squirrel jump from one tree branch to another. The man looked up too and started chuckling; so I asked, "What's so funny?"
He replied, "When I was young, we use to stand on the street corner and look and point to the sky. Every time we did, a large group would draw around us and start looking and pointing. Once they were all looking up, to see what we had seen, we would walk away, just leaving them stand there."
I giggled and went about my business.
Later that day it hit me--the incredible power we have to persuade people. We influence people with our choices. Every day, we influence their decisions by what we choose to look and point to.
I think of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their decision of not bowing down to the golden idol and the influence they had over an entire nation. And, Joshua when he questioned Israel as to whom they would serve. His declaration of, “as for me and my house…we will serve the Lord” also influenced an entire nation to choose God.
Romans 10:13-15 says, "…Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” NIV
Our voice counts. Our witness matters. Our day to day is not going unnoticed by our co-workers, neighbors, children, or friends. So, I encourage you to "Look up, for your redemption draws near." Look up to him in the midst of your struggles; He will deliver you. Point to Him when you have a need; He will provide.
And as you are look and point, remember, others will congregate and look and point to whatever you are focusing on too.
Have a FANTASTIC WEEKEND. And as I often say...DREAM BIG...LAUGH OFTEN...KNOWING that GOD's GOT IT ALL UNDER CONTROL!

The Sweetness of Surrender
What do you worry about? What's weighing upon your shoulders? What consumes your thinking? The answer to all of life's problems is found in the sweet surrender of entrusting our very lives to God!
Our World perceives victory as awards, accomplishments, and elevation of position. Our society teaches that surrender means to "give in, give up, admit defeat, relinquish our position/prestige/or power, or to concede; it views surrender as an admission of failure. Perhaps, that's what makes surrendering so difficult. We expect ourselves to conquer, overcome, and arise as champions. We train ourselves to resist surrender, and shudder at the very thought of it. So, with great determination, we yell the battle cry of "Surrender?...Never!"
Don't get me wrong...I'm all in for a good fight. Unfortunately, I struggle (all too often) with the balance of putting forth good effort (while trusting completely in God for the results) and picking up the responsibility of performing with perfection. Trust me...there is a difference.
But, as Christians, surrender is sweet.
It's an admission not of failure but of dependence. It's a concession to a power far greater than self-discipline or determination could ever hope to produce. It's relinquishing our ideas for superior ones and relinquishing our position to The One Who elevates us to a higher one.
Rick Warren writes, "Surrender is not the best way to live, it is the only way to live. Nothing else works. All other approaches lead to frustration, disappointment, and self-destruction...Surrendering your life is not a foolish emotional impulse but a rational, intelligent act, the most responsible and sensible thing you can do with your life."
Our hope...our confidence...is in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Scripture says He ever lives to make intercession for the saints.
Every concern you bare...Christ knows about and cares about. Every fear you cower to...Jesus is wanting and waiting to disarm...Every dream you long to see fulfilled doesn't escape His notice. But the key is surrender. After all, His ways are not our ways...His ways are so much higher.
So, today I encourage you to look up. And in all your ways acknowledge God...for He will direct your steps; He'll give you wisdom; and, as you surrender...He will give you the victory!
Heb 4:14-16, says, "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Here are 5 quick steps to surrendering (consistently):
1. Acknowledge your dependence...(Prayer...Father, move in this situation...I can't do it on my own.)
2. Ask for wisdom...(Father, I need Your guidance. Show me what to do.)
3. Remember Who You serve. (Father, You created the heavens, the earth, and hold all things together.
4. Be honest about your weakness. (Father I confess that I struggle with...
5. Verbally give him your trust. (I know that You are good. And I choose to trust You.)
One final step...Surrender isn't a once of occurance. Surrender is never easy, nor is it accomplished in one simple moment. Surrender is a lifestyle and a constant choice. But as we learn to surrender there is a great sense of protection and knowledge of victory. With God...ALL things are possible. We can do ALL things through Him. Remember, You are NOT alone. God is near. Soooooo....DREAM BIG...LAUGH OFTEN...KNOWING THAT GOD's IN CONTROL! :)

Anoint us with the knowledge that apart from You we can do nothing. We surrender our lives, our marriages, our jobs, and our dreams to You. Heal us. Restore us. And, direct us in the way we should live. We love You Lord. Empower us to serve You. In Jesus name, amen.

The Principle of Sowing & Reaping!
Galatians 6:7-8, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
I remember reading this Scripture, as a young person, and becoming extremely frightened, because I sowed a whole lot of nothing good...Over the years, this verse, that once intimidated me, now brings tremendous hope. The beginning of the verse seemed (at one time) more like a curse; the latter part seemed to take on a note of blessing...BUT perhaps this verse is neither a cursing or a blessing...perhaps it's just a matter of fact...a principle that will not be escaped!
Principles are applicable to every area of our life. My husband and I often teach at marriage conferences the principle of sowing and reaping. Very simply if you plant a tomato seed what are you going to produce? If you plant corn, what will you harvest? If you plant green beans...well you get the picture. We make the application of what are you planting in your marriage? Complaints? Accusations? Forgiveness? Mercy? Sacrifice? Tenderness? You will reap what you sow!
What are you believing God for? What are you sowing to fulfill His plan and design for your life? Don't grow weary in doing good! Don't give up. Keep doing what you know to do and you will harvest the right "fruit". Check out the verses that follow verses 6-8 and receive encouragement!
Verse 9: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
YEAH! What incredible promise!
If you are working out, trying to lose weight...don't give up. Keep doing the right things and you will reap the results!
If you are starting a new business and things seem overwhelming...DON'T give up...keep moving in wisdom, put strategic systems in place, hire the right people...and you WILL SUCCEED!
If you are facing temptation...keep resisting, confessing when you fail, resisting again and again...Don't give in...you WILL overcome.
If your marriage is struggling...keep sowing love, mercy, servant hood, and grace...AND you will REAP what you SOW.
If you are believing God for a promise of a world wide ministry...KEEP AT IT! DON'T SLOW DOWN! DREAM BIG! WORK HARD! LAUGH OFTEN...BECAUSE GOD's GOT IT! You cannot fail. He is the fulfiller of all our dreams!
The final verse of Galatians 6:6-10 says, (verse 10) "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." NIV
So...Today...look to bless someone. Look for opportunities to encourage others in their gifts. Share a word of kindness to someone who is feeling down. Dream with someone who needs you to dream with them; stand with them as they reach for what seems impossible! "Do good to ALL people, ESPECIALLY to those who belong to the family of believers."
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the principles that govern our lives. Thank You for Your mercy. Fill us with passion to do what you've called us to and the strength to walk it out! Help us to not grow tired or weary. Help us to stand and do the right thing. Fill us with hope, love, mercy, and power so that we might glorify You in our daily walk. In Jesus name, amen!

The final verse of Galatians 6:6-10 says, (verse 10) "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." NIV
So...Today...look to bless someone. Look for opportunities to encourage others in their gifts. Share a word of kindness to someone who is feeling down. Dream with someone who needs you to dream with them; stand with them as they reach for what seems impossible! "Do good to ALL people, ESPECIALLY to those who belong to the family of believers."
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the principles that govern our lives. Thank You for Your mercy. Fill us with passion to do what you've called us to and the strength to walk it out! Help us to not grow tired or weary. Help us to stand and do the right thing. Fill us with hope, love, mercy, and power so that we might glorify You in our daily walk. In Jesus name, amen!

When God Makes a Promise
I recently had an incredible thought...you know, one of those thoughts where you are minding your own business, and suddenly you stop in your tracks, overwhelmed with a simple truth that makes you say...hmmmm...or wow...or awesome.
Here it is: When God makes a promise to us, He sees it as though it already has happened. Our past doesn't detour Him. Our present circumstances don't escape His notice or shock Him. And our future is secure in Him. He already knows what is to come and He's witnessed His promise as already fulfilled. All we need to do is align our thinking with His.
What has God promised you? Do you sometimes wonder if it will ever come to be? Do you find yourself doubting whether you will ever receive it?
God's promises are yes and amen...simply put...He fulfills His promises. Numbers 23:19, reminds us that, "God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" NIV
And God has promised in Genesis 28:15, "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." NIV
I don't know about you, but I find that extremely encouraging. I simply need to align my thinking with His. The pressure is off of me to "perform" rather I can "rest" knowing He will do it!
What is God calling you to? What has He promised? Do not fear. God will fulfill all that He said He would do. He will provide. You are not alone!
So...Today...Laugh Often and Dream Big...knowing God's got it!
Prayer: Today our prayer is taken directly from Scripture--Psalm 143:7-10, "Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." NIV In Jesus Name we pray...Amen.

Joy in the Journey
Wow. What a privilege to be in ministry for God. Kentucky's conference went fantastic. Despite the snow storm over 75% of the women scheduled to come...showed up! What a great group of ladies. His Love Extended successfully launched the new series of Discover, Develop, and Do Your Passion! It was powerful watching women intercede for women.I love how God lets us participate with Him in ministry.
So thank you to everyone who helped, and thank you for your prayers...
Now, on to today's blog:
The thought hit me yesterday, while worshiping in Church,
"This life is the only chance I have to honor God with my faith." Stay with me and I'll explain.
You see one day, we will stand face to face with Him. We will see Him as He is. We will even be made to be like Him. In Eternity, there won't be any need for faith, because we will witness our belief in reality. Jesus will be there. We won't have anymore questions. Our struggles will be gone. Our fears will be subsided...
And something stirred inside of me..."This is my one chance to honor Him and glorify Him with my faith! This is my one chance to have joy regardless of my circumstances. This is my one chance to not cower to fear or the lies of the enemy. And, a boldness arose from within me, as I purposed that I will glorify the Lord with my faith.
Hebrews 11:6, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to God, must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." NIV
God desires us to have joy in our journey. Joy in the truth that He will never leave us or forsake us. He desires our trust...our faith!
What is He calling you to believe for? What is He asking you to release and entrust to Him? Let the truth of Who God is establish your hope. Let the truth of His love for you fill you with joy...everything is going to be alright.
Today is the first day of a new month...it's a new day...a new week...a new month...let it be a new beginning of putting your confidence in The One Who will never leave you or forsake you...in The One Who created and designed your purpose before you were even formed in your mother's womb...in The One Who Was...AND IS...AND IS TO COME! My prayer for each one of us is that we will have JOY IN THE JOURNEY!
Prayer: Father, fill us with joy. Our passion is to honor you with our lives. Fill us with the peace that You are near. Let us sense Your presence. Give us wisdom. Give us Your favor. In You we put our trust. In You we find our joy. Thank You for Your goodness and Your mercy. In Jesus Name, AMEN!
